Five Ways to Seize the day
Today I want you to seize the day! Here is five ways one can seize the day. Carpe Diem or seize the day is a Latin term for pluck the day or as it is commonly referred to seize the day. In short it means marking the best of today, not tomorrow or next week but today. We all must recognize we all have a limited time on this earth so we should hold each day as priceless and make the best of it. Here is a few ways to do that.
Whether it’s trying to get healthy, creating a project, rebuilding a relationship or maybe a simple task as organizing a room. We start today. Regardless of whether a journey is long or short, it always starts with the first step. We begin today. I have never had a problem with starting anything, but finishing well that for me is a work in progress.
Let Go of Regret
The purpose of regret is to gain wisdom, to learn from it so that we can make better decisions in the future. It is a learning experience but we can not grow if we can’t get past the first stage of wisdom which is regretting our choices. Like water under a bridge, recognize it, learn from it, then let it go. We only need to punish ourselves once, there is no point in punishing ourselves over and over for something that was done long ago. In the same vein, we need to forgive others who have wronged us, no so much for them but to allow us to move forward. We can’t change the past only the future and it starts with the present.
If it is time to move on- then Move
Just as you can’t change the past, worrying about a situation is not doing something about it. Turn your concern into a course of action. Worry creates stress but action creates change. Changes is scary and stressful but there are times where we need to dig down and find the courage to incorporate change in our lives.
You don’t have to go full lotus position and burn incense, just take a few minutes out of the morning or evening to take a few cleaning breathes, in through your nose, hold it for a second then exhale out your mouth. Calm down your racing mind and begin to replace your negative thoughts with positive affirmations. You will complete your goal, you visualize completing it and how good you will feel. If you are upset about something, recognize the feeling then let it go as you breath out. You don’t have to come up with a solution right now, just recognize your feelings and replace negative ones for good.
I usually try to catch a few minutes out of my time to catch the sunset. Every sunset is different and I recognize beauty and wonder of nature in it.
5)Fix your priorities
Sometimes saying no is just as important as saying yes. Choose tasks that we can do our best at. If you are a list maker, do the things that are the easiest first, and tackle the hardest one last. You become encouraged and energize by a few small victories before tacking the big project. Don’t full your plate with too much otherwise, you will suffer from burnout.
I hope this helps you and gives you some ways you can make the most of each day. If you have any other ideas or methods please feel free to comment below. Looking at things differently can do us a world of good. Till next time. “Seize the day!
